Chairman of the Board & Majority Owner

Reginald is one of the founders of Buford, Dickson, Harper & Sparrow, Inc., (BDHS) and serves as the firm’s chairperson, a principal and a member of the Investment Committee.

Reginald has 33 years of continuous Fortune 500 Board Experience including the Board of Directors and member of the audit committee of Dollar General Corporation, board chairman at First American National Bank/AmSouth (now Regions Bank) Community Development Corporation, and Board of Directors for Heartland Bank. Currently, Reginald serves on the board of Huntington Preferred Capital, Inc. This extensive corporate experience adds great insight into the BDHS investment evaluation and decision making process.

Reginald has cultivated civic relationships statewide and within St. Louis while serving on the boards of several organizations such as the American Red Cross (Founding member of Charles Drew Blood Drive), the Family Investment Trust, the United Way, St. Louis Community College Foundation, African American Leadership Committee – Harris Stowe State College, Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents, the Boy Scouts of America, Black Leadership Roundtable (founder), Grand Center and the Small Business Advisory Council for the FCC.

Most notably, Reginald is the retired President and CEO of Inroads, Inc., a national minority career development organization. Reginald’s volunteerism has garnered him the American Red Cross’ Charles R. Drew Award and the Salvation Army’s William Booth Award. Reginald continues to be active in the cultural fabric of St. Louis as founding member of St. Louis Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society.

Reginald earned a Bachelor of Arts from Harris-Stowe Teachers College and a Bachelor of Science-Business from Washington University St. Louis.

Gerald R. Sparrow

Gerald R. Sparrow is a partner, Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of the Investment Committee. Gerald rejoined Buford, Dickson, Harper and Sparrow, (BDHS) in 2012. Gerald has over 20 years of investment experience. Gerald founded Sparrow Capital Management, Inc., a registered investment advisor and Sparrow Growth Fund a SEC registered investment company in 1988. Gerald helped found BDHS in 1995, where he served as Chief Investment Officer from 1995 to 2005. Prior to founding Sparrow Capital, Sparrow Growth Fund and BDHS, Gerald was an Institutional Sales Representative for Strong/Corneliuson Capital Management in Milwaukee, WI.

Gerald is on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Department of Conservation St. Louis Regional Advisory Council. Past member of St. Louis Zoo Friends Association and St. Louis Zoo Finance Committee, Association of Investment Management and Research, St. Louis Financial Analyst Society; Associate Board of the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis. Gerald is a frequent commentator on Money Talk on WRTH Radio and the Money Show on KMOX Radio in St. Louis. Gerald has also been featured in the St. Louis Business Journal, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the St. Louis Medical Journal. Gerald has also received civic and military commendations.

Gerald has a Bachelor of Science in Business from University of Missouri St. Louis, MO, and an MBA from Washington University St. Louis, MO. Honorary member of Beta Gamma Sigma since 1985. Gerald was also a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp and Marine Reserves.

Robert W. Gay joined Buford, Dickson, Harper and Sparrow, (BDHS) in 2012 and serves as the Director of Research and is a member of the Investment Committee. Robert founded Global Equity Analytics & Research Services, LLC, and (GEARS) 1997. GEARS is an independent provider of fundamental corporate performance metrics. Prior to founding GEARS, Robert was Executive Vice President and Director of Quantitative Research at Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon Ltd., a Canadian institutional research boutique, Vice President and Director of Quantitative Research at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette in New York and Quantitative Analyst at Dominion Securities, Ltd. in Toronto.

Robert was selected to Institutional Investors Magazine’s All-American Research team each year from 1990-1995, developed the Price of Growth process, which is a time–series oriented equity investment decision making tool which was the top-ranked Canadian quantitative research product in the Financial Post’s Brenden Wood analyst’s pool from 1984 to 1987.

Robert has a degree in Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Alex has over 13 years of investment and portfolio management experience. Alex started his career at BDHS as in intern in 1998. Alex serves as the firm’s portfolio manager, principal and member of the Investment Committee.

Alex is an integral part of the BDHS investment Team. His has assisted in the development and enhancement of the investment process by evaluating quantitative screens that identify investment opportunities for the portfolio. Additionally Alex is responsible for portfolio structuring and new product research.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington University St. Louis.

Tracie Gregory
Research/Client Consultant Liaison

Tracie joined BDHS in 2006. Tracie serves as the firm’s Client Consultant Liaison.

As the Client Consultant Liaison, Tracie works directly with clients and consultants providing them with monthly and quarterly investment analyses. Additionally, Tracie focuses on the development and marketing of BDHS’ large cap and small cap products.

Tracie has been part of the St. Louis accounting, investment and banking community since 1992. Tracie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Spelman College, Masters of Accounting in Taxation from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters of Business Administration from Webster University.

Karen Marshall
Office/Compliance Manager

Karen Joined BDHS in 2007. Karen serves as the firm’s Office/Compliance Manager. Karen is responsible for the overall office management of the firm. Additionally, she assists Chief Compliance Officer in the regulatory filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Karen brings over 15 years of management experience from both the public and private sector. Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California at Berkeley, a Masters of Business Administration from California State University, Hayward and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
